IT STARTS WITH ME

Quality Improvement
Heart & Vascular has made strides with patient throughput over the past few years. Through a Green belt project, patient transfer was decreased to less than 60 minutes. A recent refresh of Pull to Full also made strides.
Accountability
Involving team members in establishing community norms and competencies imroves compliance and accountability.
Fiscal Responsibility
Equipment management is essential for the unit budget. I created a master file of all unit equipment to enable a workgroup to enact monthly inventories to prevent loss.
Safety Awareness
I engage team members in surveying the work environment to maintain safety precautions and ensure everyday readiness.
Staff Empowerment
Empowering charge nurses to take ownership for operations within the care environment has strengthened our team and allowed for meaningful feedback to be shared.
Professional Development
External professional development events such as ANA conferences and NCNA Nurses Day at the Legislature provide chances to network and allowed me to bring back information to benefit my department and our patients.
Community Involvement
Partnerships with the School of Nursing help to prepare a new generation of leaders. Community liaisons help healthcare workers meet the needs of the people of North Carolina and beyond.
